Camp NaNoWriMo is less than a week away, which means it’s time for our official Bring a Friend to Camp Day! Camp lets you tackle any writing project, and set your own word-count goal, which means it’s perfect for the budding writers in your life who may be intimidated by 50K.
This will not apply to all art professionals (and certainly should not be taken as good advice by some) but it won’t hurt them either. All this message has to do is help decrease the number of “I’ll pay you in publicity” offers from people who are trying to sell ice to [Inuit], so to speak. Maybe it might even result in a few more artists getting paid for their work?
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been approached asking for free work — not just for my art, but for my social media services, or a plug, or for anything else I do on a professional level — Oh. My. God.
..it is a waste of time to try to develop a relationship with somebody who’s not going to be there. This is true not only in personal relationships, but in business relationships as well.
